Different types of powders are used in 3D printing, categorized mainly into reactive powders and non-reactive powders, based on their chemical properties and the level of risk associated with their handling. When dealing with these powders, it is essential to select an industrial vacuum cleaner with specific features, especially if you are using depowdering stations to manage the materials effectively.

Post-processing machinery, including depowdering stations, must be equipped with advanced filtration and vacuum systems that can maintain a controlled and sealed environment. Our industrial vacuum cleaners can be seamlessly integrated into the rear of the machine, providing easy access for maintenance. The vacuum constantly removes dust generated during the handling of non-reactive powders and reactive powders during post-processing, keeping the work area clean and ensuring effective filtration.

These reactive powders are highly sensitive to factors such as oxygen, moisture, and heat sources, which increases the risk of combustion or explosion if not handled properly. Some of the most common materials include: Aluminum, Titanium, Magnesium, and various reactive metal alloys. To ensure a safe working environment, it is essential to implement appropriate management measures for these reactive powders, especially when using depowdering stations, while also considering their sensitivity to external factors like oxygen, moisture, and heat. Additionally, utilizing non-reactive powders can help mitigate risks associated with these highly reactive materials.

These materials present a lower risk in terms of reactivity, but can still generate health-threatening particulate matter if inhaled. Some examples include: stainless steel, cobalt-chrome, copper, and polymers and resins. While these are considered non-reactive powders, it is essential to handle them with caution, especially in depowdering stations, taking the right precautions to protect the health of operators and prevent risks from inhaling dust, even from reactive powders.

Our Ecobull M Z2-Z22 Additive Manufacturing was installed for the extraction of reactive powders and non-reactive powders within the depowdering stations. Power: 1.8 kW Filtering surface: 35,000 cm2 Capacity: 65 liters Equipped with a powerful ATEX-certified side channel blower, this vacuum cleaner is designed to safely collect both conductive and reactive materials.

For non-reactive dust extraction in our depowdering stations, we have installed our industrial vacuum Ecobull M. This vacuum is equipped with a side channel turbine and M-class star filter, making it ideal for handling non-reactive powders.
Power: 1.8 kW
Filtering surface: 15,000 cm2
Capacity: 45 liters
Due to its specifications, the vacuum cleaner ensures optimal performance for continuous use, whether dealing with non-reactive or reactive powders.
